About Us

marco_rov.jpgMarco Pizarro is the CEO and Lead Software Engineer for NextGen ROV. This is his second year on NextGen and he was able to apply his programming knowledge to the real-world scenarios that the MATE ROV competition offers. His vast knowledge of programming languages, from Python to C++, have allowed him to be a valuable member of the team. He is a junior at Salinas High School, and he plans on studying computer science after high school.

Stephanie Tena is a junior at Salinas High School. She is the Chief Operating Officer and Software Engineer of the NextGen ROV team. Over the years, she has gained experience in a variety of programming languages such as Java and JavaScript. Thus, developing a strong interest in programming and making her an important team member. After high school, she hopes to pursue her love for computer science.

Aldo Saldana is a 17 year old junior attending  Alisal High School competing for the first time on an ROV team. He has a place on the team as a mechanical engineer and is also CFO of the NextGen Team. He has experience in 3D modeling and mechanical engineering and is eager to learn and ready for a fun experience.

brandon_rovBrandon Gatanaga is a 16 year old junior attending Salinas High School and is an Electrical Engineer for the NextGen 2018-2019 Team.  He also has skills in software engineering and is able to program in a multitude of languages. He plans to primarily be focused on finding ways to implement the circuits and divy the power between parts of the ROV.

Audrey Tran is a 15 year old sophomore at North Salinas High School. She is an electrical engineer for the NextGen 2018 robotics team. She can speak a few languages and has interests in STEM programs. Audrey is mostly focused on soldering and working tether. She hopes to be involved in marine science in the future.

nathan_rovNathan Saldana is a sophomore at Everett Alvarez and is one of the electrical engineers on the NextGen ROV team. Other than electrical engineering, Nathan is interested in other subjects like physics and mechanical engineering. He hopes to double major in Aeronautical Engineering and Computer Science in the future.

IMG_6167Eva Calderon is a junior at North Salinas High School and one of the Electrical Engineers along with Brandon. She has learned many skills from participating in STEM programs as well as STEM summer camps, as well as self studying from online university lectures. Eva is very persistent and eager to implement new ideas. She plans to go into Electrical Engineering in the future and to programs abroad.
